PEAK is a clinical research study for adults with advanced colon or rectal cancer (also known as colorectal cancer). Colorectal cancer is considered “advanced” when it spreads (metastasizes) beyond nearby lymph nodes to other parts of the body. Surgery with the goal of curing the cancer is typically not an option at this stage.
PEAK stands for Panitumumab Efficacy in combination with
mFOLFOX6 Against bevacizumab
plus mFOLFOX6 in mCRC subjects with wild-type KRAS tumors.
Clinical research studies often compare the effectiveness and safety of a standard cancer treatment regimen with an “investigational” treatment regimen that has not yet been fully evaluated, but which the medical community is interested in evaluating to determine its potential to assist in combination treatment regimens.
The primary goal of the PEAK study is to learn whether an investigational therapy given in combination with chemotherapy will delay the progression of colorectal cancer for a longer period of time compared to the current standard treatment.
The PEAK study is open to adults with advanced colorectal cancer who meet study enrollment criteria.
